Pre-season update.png
Last update we spoke about big new features, Bank, Sir Chesterly, Scrolls, and the Backpack. This update we will go over what existing bugs on the live server and bugs that exist on the PBE (due to the changes we have made) have been fixed, Conquests state, Siege Workshop and the Wonder!



Siege Workshop
As you’ve seen on twitter this past week we have re-made the Siege Workshop items! We had to create these again from scratch so they could fit with our custom items system, which took a long time with MANY bugs but we got there eventually! All items can be used in war or conquest.

Barricades
Barricades are our version of building blocks. Barricades now have “health” this means (for example) we can give a barricade 50 health which takes 10 TNT hits to destroy it, or just 2 health so it gets destroyed in one shot! We can also add a cooldown to how often you can place barricades. However we aren’t utilising these features for season 2 (as of yet) but these will be really interesting to use in the future!


Explosive Trap
The Explosive trap is placed on the ground and when an enemy walks over the trap it deals damage to them. We made it so that you and your team cannot set off your own trap which is really handy.


Grenades, Sticky and Non sticky
We have two grenades now, the normal grenade is the only siege workshop item which is ‘new’ to IC. As seen in the tweet on twitter, these are throwable items, one sticks to a player and follows them, the other stays on the floor where you threw it to. Each deal damage within a radius of the explosion. If the sticky grenade doesn’t stick it only does a portion of the damage within the radius, making it weaker than a regular grenade. So you need to be accurate to get the full damage out. The cooldowns on the grenades are linked, you cannot throw a sticky grenade and straight after throw a normal grenade, you must wait for the cooldown.


TNT
TNT does damage to all players in its radius. TNT has multiple unique traits which allow it to deal damage to barricades and cruxes. This is completely configurable so we can make it deal 50 damage to a crux and 10 damage to barricades. TNT is the only siege item that does damage to barricades and Cruxes.


TNT Defuser:
TNT defusers are pretty cool. We didn’t want to make it so that they would always defuse a tnt, that seems a bit too op so we added two outcomes, success and failure. When the defuse attempt succeeds the TNT will disappear, no damage will be done to players, cruxes or barricades. However we added a fail option, when the defuser fails the TNT only does a percentage of its original damage. There is a percentage change of the defuser failing.



- Prices are just placeholders for now and will be changed. Damage done is not final and can/will be changed.


Conquest
Conquest works! There are still a lot of issues with it, mainly being quality of life issues, fixing it up, adding the new map and making sure it runs smoothly when accepting islands into conquest, eliminating islands and then ending conquest. However it is looking good. Jorah the Explorer in hub is a very helpful villager now showing you loads of information about the previous conquest and the conquest shop. When a conquest is drawing near you can purchase tickets which help your chances to get in so the menu updates to show this along with who currently has the most tickets and how much gold has been spent overall! As conquest isn’t done yet I won’t go into it much more so look forward to hearing more about that soon.

The Wonder
Of course conquest needs a big reward at the end. The Wonder is a building that was never really used back in old IC, mainly because the buffs it provided didn’t work… We have completely redone the buffs and they are looking great. We have 4 tiers of the Wonder, each have 2 buffs which you can pick either or. These buffs stay as you upgrade your wonder so if you max your wonder you can have 4 buffs for your island. I won’t go over these buffs today, we will reveal those at a later date. There will be something for everyone.

Warcamp
The Warcamp has had its own overhaul. You can finally select your spawn point! Each upgrade of the warcamp unlocks a different war spawn. You select your spawn at the warcamp NPC and it spawns you there for each war until you change it to another point. This is for individual spawns so you and your island can make a plan of attack from different directions. If your warcamp gets destroyed your spawn point will be reset to spawn 1.



Notable Features:
Changed the island cap to 18
6+5+4+3
As per #polls in discord Poll #5. The vote was very split between 24 players and 12 players so we calculated all the votes and found the middle ground which was 18!


Degradation needed to be made harsher, so talks with the content team came up with a new system.
- Islands in higher divisions have more degradation
- Islands in higher divisions have increased repair prices for damaged buildings
Gold and below 10% Repair costs, 1 damaged building
Emerald 20% repair costs, 2 damaged buildings
Diamond 30% repair costs, 1 destroyed building, 1 damaged
Challenger 40% repair costs, 2 destroyed buildings, 1 damaged

Platinum division has now been renamed to Emerald

Different respawn mechanics were added -
Respawn: After X seconds the player respawns. Every player must wait X seconds.
Respawn Staggered: After X seconds, all players, regardless of team re-spawn. Constant timer on repeat for all the server.
Respawn Wave: After X seconds, all players on the same team respawn, but the timer only decrements when a player is dead.
These will be used in different instances, for example we have a different respawn rule for conquest than warfare. This allows us to easily toggle between them if we wish.


Added the ability to gain Cargo Crates through winning warfare and Cargo Key fragments when collecting resources

Onto the Bugs/features

Island
- Building scrolls now work on building skins
- Islands in Emerald or above can only queue against other emerald or above islands.
- Buffed cave in minigames from 5 points per resource to 10
- Changing skin on destroyed buildings no longer negates the degradation effect
- Reskinning buildings no longer downgrades them to a lower level temporarily
- Stops new island members from changing building skins
- Building skins are now bound to user as requested in #Polls - Poll 8
- Damaged buildings no longer fix themselves on reload of island
- Rename scrolls now work for players who are not manager rank (lol)
- Can no longer use destroyed buildings
- Can now use all damaged buildings.
- When a building is preparing to be upgraded, leaving the island no longer continues the build


War
- Returning from war started your queue at an elevated stage, this is no longer the case
- Stops players from dropping items to other teams at war
- Strength potion amplifier now shows correct calculation
- Adds ability to break glass and leaves
- Saying gg at the end of a war now grants you 2 gold
- Added a limit on the lowest match quality. No extremely unfair matches
- Added a cap for gold won by kills - to stop kill farming for gold
- Buildings no longer stay half built and don’t spawn cruxes
- Added spawn protection for 5 seconds
- Townhall is no longer removed completely after all cruxes are taken out


Misc
- Right clicking dissolve no longer infinitely dissolves loot giving you infinite essence
- Added remove emblem and title command
- Fixed issues adding/setting/removing currency to offline accounts
- Fixed issue where inventories were being wiped
- Rebooting an island no longer kicks the player from the hub after being sent there
- Allows for us to add items into the premium shop on will, without having to restart the server
- Ability to schedule items to appear in the premium shop at a specific time and have them removed at a specific time
- Fixed some administrative commands & staff perms
- Updated ‘tips’ in warfare load up to fit new changes


Moving forwards
We are nearly there, which is a relief to all of us. As you can see by this update all the big/small new features are done. All we have left is finishing and polishing off conquest, a tonne of bugs, issues and lots of quality of life improvements are still on the todo list but we are nearing the end and it is pretty exciting! We still don't have a release date yet. We have a rough estimate internally but we do not want to disclose how long/when this is as after all, all the work for island clash is still done in developers free time, no contracted hours etc etc. But just know it is coming :)

Glad to see all of this new content coming out to Island Clash and to hear that you guys are nearly finished working on season 2. I hope this will attract more players as this was one of my favourite servers to play on in 2015/2016 and still is one of my favourite servers to play on!

Yes we really hope it will attract more players and bring back others!!
